MARK YOUR CALENDARS // PLAYER EVALUATIONS SATURDAY, APRIL 9, 2022
CGAA Baseball will conduct indoor Player Evaluations on Saturday, April 9th for players already registered for Pitchball, Pee Wees or Minors. There are no longer evaluations on April 10th. CGAA Baseball is not conducting evaluations for either T-Ball level.
Player Evaluations will be conducted at the Cottage Grove Ice Arena on the West Rink (which will be turfed). Players should arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to their scheduled evaluation time to check-in and stretch. Players should attend their evaluation based on their level of play and day of the week in which they registered:
CGAA Baseball will run players through a series of hitting, fielding and throwing drills to document incoming player ability and to develop even teams for the coming season. If your son is unable to attend Evaluations, they still will be placed on a team. If you haven't registered but are still interested in playing In-House Baseball in 2022 and participating in Evaluations, please contact the In-House Director.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS // IN-HOUSE KICK-OFF MAY 7
We are planning a season-opening kick-off Saturday, May 7 at Hamlet Park, where each team hold their first practice, meet their fellow players and coaches, and get their uniforms.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS // REGULAR SEASON START
Please plan on your child having practice or a game every Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday (based on their registration) beginning on Monday, May 9th or Tuesday, May 10th respectively, weather permitting. Specific times and field locations will be communicated as the season approaches. All practices will start at either 5:45pm or 6:45pm and will last approximately 1 hour. All games will start at 6:15pm. Season end dates vary based on level. Instructional and Traditional Tee Ball will go through the end of June. Pitchball and above will go until the end-of-season tournaments scheduled for mid-July.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS // TOURNAMENTS IN JULY
End-of-season tournaments will be held for Pitchball and above in July. The Pitchball Tournament will take place July 8-10th at Lamar Fields. The Pee Wee and Minors tournament will be July 15-17th at Hamlet Park. Both tournaments will be double-elimination based on team standings. CGAA Baseball reserves the right to modify the tournament format to single-elimination as needed based on inclement weather.
CGAA Baseball In-House programs offers baseball for ages 4-12. The age cut-off date is April 30th.
Wee Tees is a program offered to 4-year-old children to provide them with the basics of the game of baseball. The program is held typically held on four Saturdays in the month of June. Participants will be provided with jerseys.
We offer two levels of T-ball during the week: Instructional T-Ball for 5-year-olds and Traditional T-Ball for 6-year-olds.
Instructional T-Ball (Mondays and Wednesdays) is an introduction to the game for 5-year-olds. Players learn positions and the general concept of the game. Score is not emphasized.
Traditional T-Ball (Tuesdays and Thursdays) is for 6-year-olds and is step two in moving towards "real" baseball. Score is kept and is a step towards preparing players for Pitchball.
Pitchball (offered either Mondays/Wednesdays as American League or Tuesdays/Thursdays as National League) is the next step in the baseball education. It involves hitting balls pitched by coaches. Players rotate through all positions and learn the fun of hitting the ball and running the bases. We host an end-of-the-year tournament for players to show off the skills they developed throughout the season.
Pee Wees (offered either Mondays/Wednesdays as the American League or Tuesdays/Thursdays as the National League) introduces kids pitching to other kids. It also begins to introduce and strengthen all other phases of the game. We host an end-of-the-year tournament for players to show off the skills they developed throughout the season.
Minors (offered on Mondays/Wednesdays only) is our final In-House league. It adds in all the phases of the game in order to prepare the players for the next step of baseball. This league also has an end-of-the-year tournament.
We have baseball opportunities for young men in these age groups through our Traveling baseball program.
All players (except Wee Tee players) are required to provide their own batting helmets and baseball gloves. There are no color requirements for In-House helmets. Helmets can be purchased through Amazon, Dick's Sporting Goods, Play It Again Sports, etc. Matte green helmets can be ordered through Advanced Sportswear.
Baseball pants, cleats, and bats are optional but not required. In-House Teams are supplied with bats that meet league requirements. Baseball bats supplied by players must meet In-House League requirements:
NO BIG BARREL BATS ARE ALLOWED. BATS MUST BE USA BASEBALL STAMPED WITH A DIAMETER NO LARGER THAN 2-1/4 IN DIAMETER.
